Graphic Design and Photography | What We Love About Being a Husband and Wife Team

Since 2013 and 2014, we owned separate businesses. I (Sarah) owned Sarah Melyssa Photography and Cory owned Anchored Away Design Co. 2020 was a year of change for a lot of us. It was a year of growth. As we were entering a new year, we knew change was coming. I was considering rebranding my photography business and teaming up with Cory to do that. One night changed everything when, during our conversation, we had the idea of joining our businesses together and creating one business that offers both graphic design and photography.

After we weighed our options, discussed further, and thought about it separately, we realized that this was an amazing idea and we needed to make this happen!

We put the plans in place, and set our launch for January 1, 2021. We are so thrilled that we joined forces and created Wolfden Collective, LLC.

So, what are our favorite things about working together in our graphic design and photography business, you ask? Well, the wait is over!

Collaborate On Graphic Design and Photography Projects

We’ve always worked incredibly well together – bouncing ideas off one another, workflow, project direction… from the different sides of business that we not only help each other with, but make one another better in. We make each other better through collaboration. we’re honest if something doesn’t work and move forward.

Assisting One Another

Although we do different things for Wolfden Collective, we both have experience in each other’s specialties and enjoy running ideas by one another. This benefits us when we need help or input from the other person. Cory can help get behind the scenes footage of a photoshoot and Sarah can help with graphics if needed.

Smart Business Decisions

It can be so easy to just buy all the new gear or say yes to absolutely everything, but that would lead to being broke and having no time outside of work. We nailed down what it is we want to focus on and make smart financial decisions like making sure our taxes are taken care of and paying ourselves the right percentage!

We’re Better Together

I know I said that we make each other better through collaboration, but even if there is something we aren’t working on together, we still make each other better just supporting one another’s specialties and tasks that the other is working on. A simple ‘that looks awesome,’ or ‘good job’ fuels us.
