Now, the moment we’ve all been waiting for…

The 3 quick tips for the folks out there looking for some help as you plan your engagement session with your Houston engagement photographer!

1. What time works best?

This may be a given, but it’s one of the most important things to keep in mind when communicating with your engagement photographer.

Do you prefer doing your session in the morning? Or one the late afternoon/early evening? I mention these times timeframes specifically because I personally love to shoot during golden hour. You may want to do something in the early afternoon, but keep in mind that when the sun is at the highest point, the light and the shadows will be very harsh. Although, sometimes direct sunlight during sessions can look great. But, if you’re wanting golden hour photos, you’ll need to plan something in the early morning or later afternoon.

When working alongside Anne Marie and Jonathan to plan their engagement session, they mentioned that they preferred a morning session. They wanted the cooler morning weather and for the area to not be incredibly crowded which totally worked in our favor. We got up early, met around 6:30am, and took beautiful morning golden hour photos.

2. Dress for the weather – and maybe bring choices!

If the weather calls for a hot, sunny day – please dress comfortably! Yes, everyone is different and everyone’s styles are unique. But, if you are sweating like crazy in a sweater in the summertime… you may dislike how the photos turn out. I always like making sure my clients are 167% comfortable during our session. If you’re uncomfortable, you’re not going to like how you look in your photos and no one wants that!

3. Location, location, location

It’s so important to start your engagement session location scouting now! Especially if you’ve already found your Houston engagement photographer. Is there a place that’s meaningful to you? Do you know of a place that matches your style as a couple? Do you need any permits?

If you’re kind of stumped on location ideas, have no fear! Your Houston engagement photographer can help you find the best location for your engagement session!
